America's Foundation for Chess staged a First Move event in New York City as part of its efforts to promote chess programs in schools. World chess champion Magnus Carlsen played simultaneously against a host of individuals and teams of all ages. The challengers clearly took the game seriously and were excited to play against and learn from the champ. Magnus graciously posed for photos with attendees and even signed chess boards at the end of the evening.
